Video / Monitors & Recorders

A video monitor is an external screen that is mounted to a camera, allowing the user to see the video output of a camera's sensor.

Monitors allow the operator to be see more clearly and focus more accurately. They contain various technical features to allow accurate monitoring of colour, contrast and tone, and can often be configured with LUTS (look-up tables) to represent how the final, edited footage will look.

Many monitors are also recorders, meaning they can capture and store video footage separately from the camera. To do this they take a feed directly from the camera's sensor, bypassing its internal storage system, which often allows for higher quality footage to be recorded as well as longer recording times.
