Canon Cameras and Lenses

Why are Canon cameras so popular?

Canon cameras generally feel easy to use, not only for beginners but for full-time professionals, too. The controls generally make sense to someone just getting into cameras and Canon is a simple system to learn the fundemental skills of photography on.

The build quality and the image quality of Canon’s cameras and lenses are fantastic and people are generally blown away by the results. Pairing a full frame camera (whether it is mirrorless or DSLR) with Canon L series lenses will not disappoint. Because Canon is so popular, it makes servicing and repairs easy, and makes for a healthy second hand market.

What’s the difference between EF, EF-S and RF?

These are all Canon lens mounts which are designed for different sensor sizes. The EF referes to Canon’s full-frame DSLRs like the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, the EF-S refers to their cameras with APS-C size sensors and the RF refers to Canon’s full-frame mirrorless cameras, like the Canon EOS R5.
